Beef Price in Mexico (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average beef export price amounted to $7,202 per ton, increasing by 2.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 7.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in June 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($7,506 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($4,311 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Beef Price in Mexico (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average beef import price amounted to $9,167 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 21% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $9,377 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($9,502 per ton), while the price for Canada totaled $7,832 per ton.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+3.6%).
Beef Exports in Mexico
In 2022, the amount of beef (cattle meat) exported from Mexico rose notably to 293K tons, picking up by 9.1% on the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, beef exports reached $2B in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +51.2% against 2019 indices.
