Cheese Price in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average cheese import price amounted to $6,534 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 7.5% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $7,158 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($10,211 per ton), while the price for New Zealand ($5,013 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cheese Price in Hong Kong SAR (FOB) - 2023
The average cheese export price stood at $8,795 per ton in June 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 49% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $9,854 per ton. From September 2022 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Macao SAR.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Macao SAR amounted to +0.3% per month.
Cheese Imports in Hong Kong SAR
In 2022, the amount of cheese imported into Hong Kong SAR declined to 16K tons, with a decrease of -10.1% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 15%.
