In value terms, exports of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Burundi (X kg) was the main destination for exports of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles from Uganda, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles to Burundi exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Rwanda (X kg), more than tenfold.

Imports into Uganda
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles declined rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Kenya (X tons), China (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of imports of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles to Uganda, together accounting for X% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kenya (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
