Over the period under review, imports showed a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, way-type unit head imports declined rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 66% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. Among the main importing countries, Pakistan, with a CAGR of +40.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Southern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -15% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a perceptible slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 9.8%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nepal ($X per ton), while Sri Lanka ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
