In 2023, the average cattle hide and skin yield in Eastern Europe fell slightly to X kg per head, flattening at 2022. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the yield increased by X% against the previous year. The level of yield peaked at X kg per head in 2022, and then declined slightly in the following year.
The global number of animals slaughtered for cattle hide and skin production totaled X heads in 2023, increasing by X% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, the number of producing animals, however, recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X%. As a result, the number of producing animals attained the peak level of X heads. From 2015 to 2023, the growth of this number failed to regain momentum.

In 2023, after two years of growth, there was decline in overseas shipments of raw hides and skins of cattle, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2022, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
In value terms, cattle hide and skin exports dropped to $X in 2023. Overall, exports saw a pronounced decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Poland was the largest exporter of raw hides and skins of cattle in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. The Czech Republic (X tons) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Slovakia (X%), Hungary (X%) and Romania (X%). Lithuania (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to cattle hide and skin exports from Poland stood at X%. At the same time, Hungary (X%), Belarus (X%) and Lithuania (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Cattle hide and skin imports expanded slightly to X tons in 2023, picking up by X% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
