The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Slovenia (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main destinations of urea exports from Croatia, with a combined X% share of total exports. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Serbia, Romania and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.
From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, the largest markets for urea exported from Croatia were Slovenia ($X), Italy ($X) and Hungary ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Ukraine, Romania and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

The average urea export price stood at $X per ton in 2023, dropping by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2022, and then reduced in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Urea Imports
Imports into Croatia
In 2023, supplies from abroad of urea decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2022 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, urea imports shrank sharply to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then fell significantly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Slovenia (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main suppliers of urea imports to Croatia, with a combined X% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
