From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the (non-coniferous) exports failed to regain momentum.

Belgium was the largest exporting country with an export of around X cubic meters, which recorded 70% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X cubic meters), constituting a 27% share of total exports. Luxembourg (X cubic meters) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to industrial roundwood (non-coniferous) exports from Belgium stood at +3.7%. At the same time, the Netherlands (+9.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X cubic meters, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, industrial roundwood (non-coniferous) imports contracted notably to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, (non-coniferous) imports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
