Steel Tube Fitting Prices in the United States
U.S. Steel Tube Fitting Import Price in December 2021
In December 2021, the steel tube fitting price amounted to $4,059 per ton (CIF, US), dropping by -1.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2021 an increase of 8.6% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,213 per ton. From October 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Canada ($7,127 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($1,733 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Steel Tube Fitting Imports
For the third consecutive month, the United States recorded growth in purchases abroad of steel tube fittings, which increased by 1.9% to 52K tons in December 2021. The total import volume increased at an average monthly rate of +3.3% over the period from January 2021 to December 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2021 with an increase of 38% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in December 2021.
In value terms, steel tube fitting imports stood at $213M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2021. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the period from January 2021 to December 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2021 when imports increased by 40% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in December 2021.
U.S. Steel Tube Fitting Imports by Country
China (17K tons), India (16K tons) and Mexico (3.2K tons) were the main suppliers of steel tube fitting imports to the United States, with a combined 67% share of total imports. South Korea, Italy, Taiwan (Chinese), Malaysia, Vietnam, Spain, Poland, Thailand and Canada lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +13.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($59M), India ($36M) and Mexico ($14M) were the largest steel tube fitting suppliers to the United States, together accounting for 51% of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, Taiwan (Chinese), Italy, Canada, Vietnam, Thailand, Spain, Malaysia and Poland, which together accounted for a further 30%.
Among the main suppliers, Spain, with a CAGR of +12.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
