Spices; Mixtures Price in Oman (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average spices; mixtures import price amounted to $2,279 per ton, increasing by 10% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 56% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,322 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($5,027 per ton), while the price for China ($648 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average spices; mixtures export price stood at $6,578 per ton in 2022, increasing by 32% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 77%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($10,790 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iran ($920 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+30.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of spices; mixtureses decreased by -5.3% to 3K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 55%.

In value terms, spices; mixtures imports rose slightly to $6.8M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +12.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 47%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $7.1M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
