Sorghum Price in Ukraine (FOB) - 2023
The average sorghum export price stood at $263 per ton in August 2023, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 29% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $264 per ton in July 2023, and then reduced modestly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($359 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($151 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sorghum Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2022
The average sorghum import price stood at $919 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -78.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 31%. The import price peaked at $4,707 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($5,249 per ton), while the price for Moldova ($50 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Sorghum Exports in Ukraine
In 2022, the amount of sorghum exported from Ukraine soared to 72K tons, growing by 29% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a drastic downturn.
In value terms, sorghum exports soared to $17M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible decline.

Sorghum Imports in Ukraine
In 2022, approx. 314 tons of sorghum were imported into Ukraine; waning by -17.7% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase.
