Oat Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average oat export price amounted to $280 per ton, dropping by -3.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a slight decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 12% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $355 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($325 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands stood at $270 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Oat Price in Poland (CIF) - 2022
The average oat import price stood at $250 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 17%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $271 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were the Czech Republic ($300 per ton) and Slovakia ($287 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($223 per ton) and Lithuania ($239 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Oat Exports in Poland
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of oats, when their volume decreased by -40.1% to 137K tons. In general, exports, however, posted strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 80% against the previous year.
In value terms, oat exports declined dramatically to $43M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 65% against the previous year.

Oat Imports in Poland
In 2022, purchases abroad of oats decreased by -14.1% to 9.3K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 11K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, oat imports fell to $2.3M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 47%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $2.5M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
