Snail Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average snail export price amounted to $3,767 per ton, growing by 3.1% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, snail export price decreased by -3.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,893 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($4,342 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($2,468 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+105.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Snail Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average snail import price amounted to $7,283 per ton, dropping by -28.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 75% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $10,207 per ton, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($5,041 per ton), while the price for the UK ($185 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2015 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ireland (+26.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Snail Exports in Vietnam
In 2022, snail exports from Vietnam reduced to 180 tons, with a decrease of -5.2% on the previous year's figure. Overall, exports saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 12% against the previous year.
In value terms, snail exports contracted to $678K in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a noticeable slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 4.8%.

Snail Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, the amount of snails (except sea snails) imported into Vietnam surged to 7.7 tons, picking up by 50% against 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep setback.
In value terms, snail imports stood at $56K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $60K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
