Shelled Walnut Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022
The average shelled walnut import price stood at $6,434 per ton in 2022, surging by 3.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 19% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $10,822 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were India ($7,046 per ton) and Australia ($6,778 per ton), while the price for the United States ($6,230 per ton) and China ($6,247 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+30.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Shelled Walnut Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022
The average shelled walnut export price stood at $2,037 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -3.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 32%. The export price peaked at $4,106 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($3,976 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($28 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+142.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Shelled Walnut Imports in Indonesia
In 2022, overseas purchases of shelled walnuts decreased by -16.6% to 118 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +26.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 50% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 142 tons, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, shelled walnut imports reduced to $760K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +32.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $879K, and then reduced in the following year.
