In August 2023, the average import price for vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds amounted to $1,114 per ton, reducing by -3.4% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a slight expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, import price for vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds decreased by -20.6% against April 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 22% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,403 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,535 per ton), while the price for Portugal ($1,004 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
