In October 2023, the average export price for spices; fruits of the genus capsicum or pimenta, crushed or ground amounted to $4,094 per ton, surging by 2.4% against the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to October 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 9.6% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $4,116 per ton in August 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to October 2023.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In October 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Sweden ($4,982 per ton) and the United States ($4,492 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($3,356 per ton) and Poland ($3,610 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
