In June 2023, the average import price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes amounted to $1,576 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in June 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2,155 per ton), while the price for Poland ($818 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $1,170 per ton in 2022, picking up by 9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 27% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,550 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Germany amounted to +30.9% per year.

For the third consecutive year, Norway recorded decline in supplies from abroad of apples, pears and quinces; freshes, which decreased by -2.9% to 53K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a perceptible decrease.
In value terms, apples, pears and quinces; fresh imports fell to $73M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 9.1%.
