The average preserved sauerkraut import price stood at $1,695 per ton in September 2023, shrinking by -5.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 18% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,296 per ton. From February 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($4,607 per ton), while the price for Germany ($471 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average preserved sauerkraut export price stood at $2,837 per ton in September 2023, picking up by 33% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 412% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,396 per ton. From December 2022 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+9.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
