Pistachio Price in France (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average pistachio import price amounted to $9,957 per ton, which is down by -18.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 16% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $12,192 per ton in July 2023, and then reduced remarkably in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($24,024 per ton), while the price for the United States ($8,327 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pistachio Price in France (FOB) - 2023
The average pistachio export price stood at $13,876 per ton in August 2023, which is down by -12% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 63% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $25,205 per ton. From July 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($51,850 per ton), while the average price for exports to New Caledonia ($6,077 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+24.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pistachio Imports in France
In 2022, imports of pistachios into France amounted to 8.2K tons, picking up by 4.2% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 4.8% against the previous year.
In value terms, pistachio imports contracted to $85M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 0.3% against the previous year.

Pistachio Exports in France
In 2022, shipments abroad of pistachios was finally on the rise to reach 499 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a drastic downturn.
In value terms, pistachio exports skyrocketed to $6.6M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt setback.
