Mandarin and Clementine Price in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022
The average mandarin and clementine import price stood at $1,456 per ton in 2022, increasing by 69% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,568 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,618 per ton), while the price for South Africa amounted to $840 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mandarin and Clementine Price in Nigeria (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average mandarin and clementine export price amounted to $902 per ton, declining by -35.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded temperate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 140% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,631 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Botswana ($2,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Niger amounted to $816 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Botswana (+9.9%).
Mandarin and Clementine Imports in Nigeria
In 2022, supplies from abroad of tangerines, mandarins, clementines, satsumas decreased by -66.4% to 693 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 102% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.1K tons, and then contracted notably in the following year.
In value terms, mandarin and clementine imports shrank dramatically to $1M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 94% against the previous year.
