Mandarin and Clementine Price in Kuwait (CIF) - 2021
The average mandarin and clementine import price stood at $877 per ton in December 2021, rising by 8.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a tangible expansion from January 2021 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.0% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, mandarin and clementine import price decreased by -29.1% against October 2021 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2021 when the average import price increased by 34% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,237 per ton in October 2021; however, from November 2021 to December 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($6,756 per ton), while the price for Syrian Arab Republic ($355 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+16.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mandarin and Clementine Price in Kuwait (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average mandarin and clementine export price amounted to $519 per ton, increasing by 5.3% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, mandarin and clementine export price increased by +61.0% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 31%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($767 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq stood at $506 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+10.1%).
Mandarin and Clementine Imports in Kuwait
In 2022, approx. 11K tons of tangerines, mandarins, clementines, satsumas were imported into Kuwait; which is down by -33.6% on 2021 figures. Overall, imports recorded a precipitous slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 3%.
In value terms, mandarin and clementine imports contracted sharply to $9.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a abrupt contraction. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 0.8%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, mandarin and clementine exports stood at $11M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
