Green Bean Price in Spain (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average green bean import price amounted to $1,864 per ton, declining by -18.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 62% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $2,555 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Morocco ($2,258 per ton), while the price for France ($577 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Green Bean Price in Spain (FOB) - 2023
The average green bean export price stood at $2,563 per ton in June 2023, surging by 7.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 31% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $3,300 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($4,600 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,735 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Green Bean Imports in Spain
In 2022, supplies from abroad of green beans decreased by -11.2% to 105K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 8.8%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 131K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, green bean imports reduced to $139M in 2022. Overall, imports showed a deep slump. The smallest decline of -1% was in 2021.

In 2022, overseas shipments of green beans decreased by -12.2% to 19K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports continue to indicate a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 13%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 24K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, green bean exports fell to $44M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $60M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
