Frozen Whole Chicken Price in Slovenia (CIF) - 2023

In August 2023, the average frozen whole chicken import price amounted to $1,693 per ton, rising by 2.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 12% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,749 per ton in April 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to August 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,310 per ton), while the price for Austria ($1,538 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Croatia (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In September 2023, the average frozen whole chicken export price amounted to $2,598 per ton, with an increase of 8.2% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 an increase of 21% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,662 per ton. From June 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was North Macedonia ($2,944 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($2,270 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to North Macedonia (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Frozen Whole Chicken Imports in Slovenia

In 2022, overseas purchases of frozen whole chickens increased by 9% to 3.5K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, showed a pronounced downturn.

In value terms, frozen whole chicken imports soared to $5.7M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.
