Chili and Pepper Price in Uzbekistan (FOB) - 2023
The average chili and pepper export price stood at $550 per ton in May 2023, growing by 7.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 59% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $862 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to May 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($738 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($324 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kyrgyzstan (-3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Chili and Pepper Price in Uzbekistan (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average chili and pepper import price amounted to $701 per ton, declining by -58.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price decreased by -23.7%. The import price peaked at $1,685 per ton in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($1,209 per ton), while the price for Kyrgyzstan ($400 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+20.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Chili and Pepper Exports in Uzbekistan
Chili and pepper exports from Uzbekistan expanded modestly to 10K tons in 2022, increasing by 4.6% compared with the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 25%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 12K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $7.9M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
