Chicken Egg Price in New Zealand (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average chicken egg import price amounted to $4,201 per ton, with a decrease of -2.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 5.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $5,471 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were the Netherlands ($4,270 per ton) and the United States ($4,147 per ton), while the price for Canada ($4,147 per ton) and the UK ($4,147 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Chicken Egg Price in New Zealand (FOB) - 2023
The average chicken egg export price stood at $4,649 per ton in December 2023, waning by -3.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2023 an increase of 12% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $4,880 per ton in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to December 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Vanuatu ($6,173 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($4,092 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vanuatu (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chicken Egg Imports in New Zealand
In 2022, overseas purchases of chicken eggs decreased by -13.8% to 2.3K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 41%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 3.4K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, chicken egg imports reduced remarkably to $9.8M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $14M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
