Frozen Turkey Cut Price in China (CIF) - 2023
The average frozen turkey cut import price stood at $3,692 per ton in September 2023, shrinking by -2.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 21% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,803 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Chile amounted to +1.7% per month.
Frozen Turkey Cut Price in China (FOB) - 2022
The average frozen turkey cut export price stood at $5,427 per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 270% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $5,482 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($18,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($3,455 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+38.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Turkey Cut Imports in China
In 2022, approx. 18K tons of frozen turkey cuts were imported into China; with an increase of 5.8% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -29.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 71% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 26K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, frozen turkey cut imports skyrocketed to $58M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +50.1% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
