Almond Price in Guatemala (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average almond export price amounted to $7,488 per ton, surging by 3.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, almond export price decreased by -10.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 81%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $10,036 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($12,097 per ton), while the average price for exports to El Salvador ($6,603 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Honduras (+13.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Almond Price in Guatemala (CIF) - 2022
The average almond import price stood at $8,151 per ton in 2022, increasing by 30% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 93%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $8,604 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($7,361 per ton), while the price for Chile totaled $3,980 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Almond Exports in Guatemala
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of almonds decreased by -10.2% to 53 tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 111%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 59 tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, almond exports dropped to $396K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 84%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $428K, and then dropped in the following year.
