Envelope Market Size in Western Africa

The West African envelope market reduced modestly to $X in 2023, with a decrease of X% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded a perceptible expansion. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Western Africa

After four years of growth, overseas shipments of envelopes decreased by X% to X tons in 2023. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, envelope exports fell to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2023, Sierra Leone (X tons) was the key exporter of envelopes, mixing up X% of total exports. Ghana (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Niger (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Togo (X kg) and Cote d'Ivoire (X kg) - each resulted at a X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to envelope exports from Sierra Leone stood at X%. At the same time, Ghana (X%) and Niger (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ghana emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Cote d'Ivoire (X%) and Togo (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2023, the share of Ghana and Niger increased by X and X percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Sierra Leone ($X) remains the largest envelope supplier in Western Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ghana ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Togo, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Sierra Leone amounted to X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ghana (X% per year) and Togo (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2023, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, picking up by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Niger ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Togo (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Western Africa

In 2023, approx. X tons of envelopes were imported in Western Africa; with an increase of X% on the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports decreased by X% against 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Mali (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest envelope importing markets in Western Africa were Ghana ($X), Cote d'Ivoire ($X) and Mali ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports.

Mali, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2023, falling by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2022 when the import price increased by X%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced in the following year.
