Niger (X units) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Togo (X%), Sierra Leone (X%) and Ghana (X%). Cote d'Ivoire (X units) and Burkina Faso (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Senegal increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Burkina Faso (X%), Sierra Leone (X%), Niger (X%), Togo (X%), Cote d'Ivoire (X%) and Ghana (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Burkina Faso emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Senegal (X p.p.), Niger (X p.p.), Togo (X p.p.), Sierra Leone (X p.p.), Burkina Faso (X p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (X p.p.) and Ghana (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Senegal ($X), Niger ($X) and Sierra Leone ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising X% of total exports. Togo, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana and Burkina Faso lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Burkina Faso, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Niger ($X per unit), while Togo ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, combined refrigerator-freezer imports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a moderate increase. Moreover, Mali emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Senegal (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Ghana (X p.p.) and Mali (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Senegal (X p.p.) and Nigeria (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per unit), while Mali ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
