Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, carbon exports contracted to $X in 2023. In general, exports posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Thailand (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of carbon exports from Vietnam, with a combined X% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for carbon exported from Vietnam were South Korea ($X), Thailand ($X) and Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2022, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were South Korea ($X per ton) and India ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per ton) and Thailand ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2023, overseas purchases of carbon (carbon blacks and other forms of carbon) decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2022, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, carbon imports contracted to $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at $X in 2022, and then contracted in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2023, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of carbon to Vietnam, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, carbon imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), eightfold. India (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (X% per year) and India (X% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of carbon (carbon blacks and other forms of carbon) to Vietnam, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($X), with an X% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a X% share.

Import Prices by Country
The average carbon import price stood at $X per ton in 2023, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, import price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, carbon import price increased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of X%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2022, and then shrank modestly in the following year.
