Carbon Market Size in Ukraine

In 2023, the Ukrainian carbon market increased by X% to $X, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. In 2023, carbon exports from Ukraine dropped notably to X tons, which is down by X% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, exports faced a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, carbon exports plummeted to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. Poland (X tons) was the main destination for carbon exports from Ukraine, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Imports into Ukraine

In 2023, imports of carbon (carbon blacks and other forms of carbon) into Ukraine surged to X tons, increasing by X% against 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate slight growth. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, carbon imports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed tangible growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2023, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) constituted the largest carbon supplier to Ukraine, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, carbon imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X tons), twofold. In value terms, the largest carbon suppliers to Ukraine were the United Arab Emirates ($X), China ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports. India, Germany, Turkmenistan and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Turkmenistan, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average carbon import price stood at $X per ton in 2023, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2022 when the average import price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2023 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
