In 2023, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of rice, when their volume increased by X% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible descent. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, rice imports soared to $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2023, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons), Oman (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) represented the main importers of rice, together achieving X% of total imports. Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
