Exports from Germany increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Spain (X%), Sweden (X%), Austria (X%), the Netherlands (X%) and France (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Spain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, the Czech Republic (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Germany (X p.p.), Spain (X p.p.), Sweden (X p.p.) and Austria (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the Czech Republic saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest tamping machinery supplier in the European Union, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Sweden ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a X% share.
In Germany, tamping machinery exports expanded at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sweden (X% per year) and France (X% per year).

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the EU
In 2023, overseas purchases of tamping or compacting machinery decreased by X% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after six years of growth. Overall, imports, however, posted a notable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, tamping machinery imports dropped dramatically to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The countries with the highest levels of tamping machinery imports in 2023 were Germany (X units), Poland (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Belgium (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and France (X units), together amounting to X% of total import. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
