Waferboard Market Size in Egypt

The Egyptian waferboard market fell to $X in 2021, which is down by -5.2% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Romania (X cubic meters), Saudi Arabia (X cubic meters) and Morocco (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of waferboard exports from Egypt, with a combined 79% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Algeria, Kenya, Oman, Jordan and Kuwait, which together accounted for a further 25%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Algeria (with a CAGR of +8.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, Romania ($X) remains the key foreign market for waferboards exports from Egypt, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Jordan ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Morocco, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Romania amounted to -28.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Jordan (-37.6% per year) and Morocco (-52.3% per year).

Imports into Egypt

In 2021, waferboard imports into Egypt reduced to X cubic meters, with a decrease of -2.3% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 279% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X cubic meters. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, waferboard imports rose to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 195% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Malaysia (X cubic meters), Italy (X cubic meters) and Germany (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of waferboard imports to Egypt, with a combined 61% share of total imports.
