Exports in Asia-Pacific

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of silk yarn and yarn spun from silk waste decreased by X% to X tons in 2023. Over the period under review, exports showed a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, silk yarn exports shrank slightly to $X in 2023. In general, exports recorded a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2022 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

China represented the largest exporter of silk yarn and yarn spun from silk waste in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), creating a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - India (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.
