Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, asphalted paper exports amounted to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Vietnam dominates exports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Malaysia (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Indonesia (X%). Thailand (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Vietnam was also the fastest-growing in terms of the tarred, bituminised or asphalted paper and paperboard exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. Indonesia (X%), Malaysia (X%) and Thailand (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Vietnam (X p.p.) and Indonesia (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Malaysia (X p.p.) and Thailand (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In general, imports showed a perceptible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, asphalted paper imports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Myanmar represented the largest importer of tarred, bituminised or asphalted paper and paperboard in ASEAN, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), Cambodia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons), together creating a X% share of total imports. Vietnam (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Myanmar was also the fastest-growing in terms of the tarred, bituminised or asphalted paper and paperboard imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cambodia (X%) and Thailand (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Vietnam (X%) and Indonesia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
