The biggest shipments were from South Africa (X units), Ghana (X units) and Morocco (X units), together amounting to X% of total export. The following exporters - Mauritius (X units) and Egypt (X units) - each finished at a X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Ghana (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Ghana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, seat imports reduced slightly to $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2023, South Africa (X units), distantly followed by Morocco (X units), Algeria (X units), Tanzania (X units) and Angola (X units) represented the main importers of seats, together generating X% of total imports. The following importers - Ghana (X units), Kenya (X units), Libya (X units), Cote d'Ivoire (X units), Senegal (X units), Mauritius (X units), Botswana (X units) and Cameroon (X units) - together made up X% of total imports.

Imports into South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Senegal (X%), Tanzania (X%), Cote d'Ivoire (X%), Cameroon (X%), Ghana (X%), Mauritius (X%), Morocco (X%) and Botswana (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Senegal emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Kenya (X%), Algeria (X%), Libya (X%) and Angola (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Tanzania (X p.p.), Senegal (X p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (X p.p.), Ghana (X p.p.), Morocco (X p.p.) and Cameroon (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2023, the share of Libya (X p.p.), Angola (X p.p.) and South Africa (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Morocco ($X), South Africa ($X) and Libya ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2023, with a combined X% share of total imports. Angola, Kenya, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Senegal, Algeria, Cameroon, Mauritius, Botswana and Tanzania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Senegal, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2023, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2023, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of X%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2023, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per unit), while Tanzania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
