The average wool; carded export price stood at $10,681 per ton in 2022, dropping by -15.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 6.5% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $16,274 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($16,018 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia totaled $9,573 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+10.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The import price peaked at $5,052 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($12,958 per ton), while the price for Moldova ($1,238 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+35.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
