Unroasted Decaffeinated Coffee Price in Switzerland (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average unroasted decaffeinated coffee import price amounted to $6,046 per ton, reducing by -6.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 17% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $7,565 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Ethiopia ($9,880 per ton), while the price for India ($3,909 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Unroasted Decaffeinated Coffee Price in Switzerland (FOB) - 2022
The average unroasted decaffeinated coffee export price stood at $8,695 per ton in 2022, rising by 29% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 57%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($112,212 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($3,897 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+451.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Unroasted Decaffeinated Coffee Imports in Switzerland
In 2022, purchases abroad of unroasted decaffeinated coffee decreased by -5.9% to 12K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 12%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 12K tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, unroasted decaffeinated coffee imports soared to $79M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +66.1% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 934% against the previous year. In value terms, unroasted decaffeinated coffee exports contracted to $72K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant increase.
