Sweet Potato Price in Tanzania (FOB) - 2022
The average sweet potato export price stood at $1,221 per ton in 2022, growing by 63% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 83% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,569 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($7,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($394 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+73.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sweet Potato Price in Tanzania (CIF) - 2022
The average sweet potato import price stood at $331 per ton in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the import price posted a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 71%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $460 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
