Stationery Product Price in Sri Lanka (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average stationery product export price amounted to $3,322 per ton, growing by 1.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 17% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,132 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Maldives ($12,795 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($2,066 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Maldives (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average stationery product import price amounted to $1,921 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 49%. The import price peaked at $2,612 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($11,129 per ton), while the price for China ($1,619 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+23.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Stationery Product Exports in Sri Lanka
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of stationery products decreased by -33.5% to 776 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 38%.
In value terms, stationery product exports declined sharply to $2.6M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 35%.

Stationery Product Imports in Sri Lanka
In 2022, approx. 655 tons of stationery products were imported into Sri Lanka; which is down by -10.1% compared with 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 26%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 728 tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, stationery product imports contracted to $1.3M in 2022. In general, imports showed a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 8.6%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $1.4M, and then declined in the following year.
