In 2022, the average speed changer import price amounted to $12,969 per ton, surging by 2.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 35%. The import price peaked at $20,307 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($55,812 per ton), while the price for China ($4,265 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average speed changer export price amounted to $11,392 per ton, growing by 7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 57% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $21,307 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sierra Leone ($229,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($1,359 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sierra Leone (+46.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +32.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 65% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $18M, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
