Soya Bean Price in Pakistan (CIF) - 2023
The average soya bean import price stood at $735 per ton in April 2023, picking up by 24% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Ghana ($981 per ton), while the price for Togo ($543 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Soya Bean Price in Pakistan (FOB) - 2023
The average soya bean export price stood at $523 per ton in April 2023, which is down by -4.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when the average export price increased by 230% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,806 per ton. From June 2022 to April 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Bangladesh.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Bangladesh amounted to -4.2% per month.
Soya Bean Imports in Pakistan
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of soya beans decreased by -34% to 1.6M tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 15%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.5M tons, and then reduced notably in the following year.
In value terms, soya bean imports plummeted to $1B in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +35.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 62% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $1.4B, and then fell notably in the following year.

As a result, the exports reached the peak of 336 tons, and then declined sharply in the following year.
