From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of consumption, amongst the leading consuming countries, was attained by Nigeria (with a CAGR of +49.8%), while consumption for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($1.1B), Brazil ($623M) and China ($481M) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of market value in 2022, together accounting for 48% of the global market. The United States, Germany, France, Pakistan, Ukraine, Indonesia, Russia, Italy, Nigeria and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

Overall, production, however, showed a perceptible decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global production hit record highs at 1.1M units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, seeder and planter production fell to $3.6B in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, saw a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global production attained the maximum level at $5.9B in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2022 were China (159K units), Brazil (127K units) and Japan (126K units), with a combined 50% share of global production. The United States, Pakistan, Germany, Indonesia, Ukraine, Russia, Denmark, Italy and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Denmark (with a CAGR of +23.1%), while production for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports

In 2022, purchases abroad of seeders, planters, transplanters was finally on the rise to reach 101K units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a abrupt downturn. Over the period under review, global imports attained the peak figure at 317K units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, seeder and planter imports rose notably to $451M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt slump. In value terms, Romania ($60M), South Korea ($59M) and China ($56M) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 39% of global imports. France, Nigeria, Hungary, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Japan, Spain, India and Argentina lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 43%.
