Pumpkin Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average pumpkin import price stood at $1,491 per ton in September 2023, surging by 4.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 25% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,901 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($2,862 per ton), while the price for Kosovo ($510 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pumpkin Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average pumpkin export price amounted to $1,988 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated resilient growth from October 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +6.0% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, pumpkin export price increased by +32.4% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 41% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,254 per ton. From March 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Maldives ($3,307 per ton), while the average price for exports to Liechtenstein ($1,486 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pumpkin Imports in Germany
In 2022, overseas purchases of pumpkin (squash and gourds) decreased by -10.6% to 117K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year.
In value terms, pumpkin imports rose to $199M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Pumpkin Exports in Germany
For the third consecutive year, Germany recorded decline in shipments abroad of pumpkin (squash and gourds), which decreased by -11.6% to 7.4K tons in 2022. In general, exports recorded a drastic downturn. The smallest decline of -1.1% was in 2021.
In value terms, pumpkin exports dropped to $10M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The smallest decline of -0.3% was in 2020.
