Sugar Beet Production in Azerbaijan - 2022
In 2022, the amount of sugar beet produced in Azerbaijan skyrocketed to 211K tons, picking up by 19% compared with 2021. Overall, production, however, showed a abrupt setback. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at 295K tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure. Sugar beet output in Azerbaijan indicated a abrupt slump, which was largely conditioned by a abrupt contraction of the harvested area and a notable expansion in yield figures.
In value terms, sugar beet production soared to $13M in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, faced a deep slump. Sugar beet production peaked at $23M in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The sugar beet harvested area in Azerbaijan dropped modestly to 4.8K ha in 2022, shrinking by -2.7% compared with the year before. In general, the harvested area saw a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the harvested area increased by 9.6% against the previous year. As a result, the harvested area reached the peak level of 8.6K ha. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the sugar beet harvested area failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the average sugar beet yield in Azerbaijan soared to 44 tons per ha, picking up by 22% against the previous year's figure. In general, the yield indicated notable growth from 2017 to 2022: its figure increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last five years.
