Natural Rubber and Gum Production in Cambodia - 2022
For the sixth consecutive year, Cambodia recorded growth in production of natural rubber and gums, which increased by 5.5% to 395K tons in 2022. In general, production saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 31%. Natural rubber and gum production peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term. Natural rubber and gum output in Cambodia indicated a resilient increase, which was largely conditioned by a buoyant expansion of the harvested area and a modest increase in yield figures.
In value terms, natural rubber and gum production stood at $367M in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, the total production indicated prominent growth from 2017 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.4% over the last five years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -0.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 61%. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $368M in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.
Natural Rubber and Gum Harvested Area in Cambodia - 2022
In 2022, the harvested area of natural rubber and gums in Cambodia rose sharply to 331K ha, surging by 6.7% on 2021. Overall, the total harvested area indicated a resilient expansion from 2017 to 2022: its figure increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% over the last five years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, natural rubber and gum harvested area increased by +94.4% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the harvested area increased by 26%. Over the period under review, the harvested area dedicated to natural rubber and gum production reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Natural Rubber and Gum Yield in Cambodia - 2022
The average yield of natural rubber and gums in Cambodia contracted slightly to 1.2 tons per ha in 2022, remaining constant against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, the yield, however, showed slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the yield increased by 8.3%. As a result, the yield attained the peak level of 1.2 tons per ha; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
