In December 2023, the average export price for zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils amounted to $4,898 per ton, rising by 4.2% against the previous month. Over the period from February 2023 to December 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 9.8% month-to-month. The export price peaked in December 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($5,440 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($3,396 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils stood at $5,850 per ton in 2022, growing by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils increased by +84.3% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 42%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($6,625 per ton), while the price for Honduras ($2,154 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 6K tons of zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils were exported from the United States; dropping by -23% compared with the year before. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 42%.
