Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $3,957 per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($4,236 per ton), while the price for Finland totaled $3,217 per ton.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 16% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, imports of zinc; bars, rods, profiles and wires dropped to $54K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 22% against the previous year.
