In October 2023, the average import price for wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn amounted to $2,874 per ton, with a decrease of -4.7% against the previous month. Over the period from November 2022 to October 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $3,017 per ton in September 2023, and then fell slightly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($6,041 per ton), while the price for China ($1,610 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn amounted to $3,033 per ton, surging by 5.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 65%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $9,593 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($4,323 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,842 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+26.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
