The average import price for tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped stood at $7,059 per ton in November 2023, surging by 2.2% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2022 to November 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 11% month-to-month. The import price peaked in November 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Brazil ($8,261 per ton), while the price for Mozambique ($5,044 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 651% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $9,135 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to November 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Iran.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Iran amounted to -0.6% per month.
